Our Blue Crown Conures, Susie and Pepito, became parents last month! Today is our last day with these little guys before they go to their homes. I wanted to commemorate the time we spent with them with a mini photo shoot. Each baby bird was laid and hatched about 1-2 days apart. You will notice there is a difference in the size of each bird and their feather growth. The littlest guy (or gal) was the last to hatch.
My favorite memory was right after the first two babies hatched. When checking in on them I noticed the third little egg shaking! He was trying to hatch and the oldest two baby birds were banging their little beaks into the egg trying to help their sibling hatch. It was amazing to watch! These little birds, newly born, helped their little sibling come into this world. Nature is just amazing. Although the youngest baby is so tiny he is the most vocal! I worried at first that he wasn’t eating but when I heard him screeching to be fed and saw him knock his older sibling over to get to his mama I knew he would be okay.
Our little dachshund, Tazo, became rather curious this past week and we decided to introduce them to each other! Tazo is a gentle little guy and no baby birds were hurt in the making of these images.
