5 Summer Wedding Tips

Are you planning a summer wedding? Keep these 5 summer wedding tips in mind when planning for your big day! There are so many wonderful Maryland Venues and Washington DC Venues that are beautiful during the summer-well all year long really. Don’t let the heat keep you from dancing the night away under a string of lights with family and friends.
- Apply Sunblock!
During the summer months make sure you apply sunblock to protect your skin from UV damage. This goes for all races! During the winter apply a moisturizer with sunblock. This will protect you from skin cancer and avoid having an awful sunburn right before your big day!
- Don’t invite the bugs.
Consider having citronella candles at your guest tables. Keep a few bug spray bottles at the entrance of the reception. This will discourage guests from spraying around those who are eating and keeps the spray away from those who may be allergic to bug spray.
- Avoid midday!
If your wedding is outdoors try and avoid a midday ceremony. Your guests will thank you for not having to sit in the heat. Talk with your photographer about what their ideal timeline looks like for that particular season. If you want romantic sunset portraits you’ll want to make sure this is on your timeline.
- Talk with your caterer.
Skip the cheese! Ask your caterer what they recommend for a summer wedding. It is so important to trust the professionals your hire. I can’t stress that enough! You may have had your heart set on a cheese platter but when the cheese starts to sweat and melt under the summer heat you might change your mind.
- Consider the flowers.
Flowers don’t do well in heat. Your heart might have been set on a particular bloom but are they in season? Florists are artists and you have to trust their expertise. Make sure your flowers are delivered to your getting ready location. This will allow your photographer to photograph your blooms while they are fresh.

YES to all of these things!! Great tips! I would add, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! It’s so easy to forget to drink water, especially as a guest at a wedding, but it’s super important!

These are SO true! Definitely avoid midday and skip the cheese! I’ve also noticed that flowers are so much more of a hassle during the summer so definitely work with your florist with that!
