Why you should trust your Photographer DC Wedding Photographer

When searching for the photographer that will capture your wedding day (or any images really) you not only need to absolutely love their work, but you need to connect with and trust them 150%.

The reason you hired a professional is because of their wealth of experience and knowledge on the matters of lighting, posing and so much more. If your photographer is guiding you to a location you aren’t crazy about. Gently let them know you’d prefer a different location- but remember that they see something you don’t. Your photographer will take your concerns into account and you will see once your images are delivered that trusting them was the right choice.

An example I love to give is from a wedding this past spring. Towards the end of the reception there was a light drizzle outside. I’ll always remember this interaction:

Me: “Do you guys trust me? Let’s go outside in the rain.”

My Bride: “Of course we trust you! We’d go anywhere you tell us to! Let’s do it!”

The resulting image below.

My husband Scott always jokes that I am a movie director for peoples weddings. There is a little bit of truth to this. My goal is to capture the love and emotion of my couples wedding day in a beautiful way. Before couples portraits I take the time to scout the location for the best lighting and backdrop. I take my couples there and guide them into poses that will bring out who they are as a couple. You are hiring a photographer to see your day through their eyes. Trust their vision.

On your wedding day take a deep breath and relax. You’ve hired wedding professionals who are going to work hard for you on your day. They want the absolute best for you both! Whether it is your florist, photographer, caterer or make up artist. Trust their word. This might be your first wedding ever. This is probably their 100th.
